About Kalili Rugs

Photos are as accurate as possible. However, no two rugs are exactly alike! Color differences may occur depending on lighting and are common in natural fiber rugs made from organic material. You might see some very slight variations between your rug and the color and/or noted dimensions but that’s because our rugs are individually crafted.

Rug Care

Routine care and maintenance is key.

Vacuuming with Care - Be sure to use a low or upholstery setting, and raise the beater bar and rotating brush of your vacuum. Vacuums can be too abrasive and applying too much friction can damage the delicate natural fibers and pull them from the rug's backing.

Trim Loose Fibers - If loose fibers poke up out of the rug's surface: Trim, don't pull. Avoid pulling loose fibers as it will cause the surface of the rug to look fuzzy. Instead, trim loose fibers down to the surface of the rug and sweep your hand across the surface to catch other loose fibers.

Professional Cleaning - Over time, rugs will become dirty and require deep cleaning to remove stains and odors. Most rugs should be cleaned every 12-18 months.

Shedding is normal. Wool and natural fiber rugs will shed at first and will decrease over time.

Because each rug is securely rolled and folded, some curling may occur at corners and edges after unpacking.

Gently bend any creases in the direction opposite the crease or apply weight to the areas of concern. For stubborn creases, you can steam them out using an iron on low heat or a steamer if available. If you still see some creases after following these steps-no worries! We can assure you that the creases are not permanent and should relax in a week or so.

Blot the stain with a cloth to absorb as much as possible and avoid scrubbing. Doing so will push the spill further in and more difficult to clean.

Some rugs may have an odor when first opened. This is a normal process known as off-gassing, and the smell should dissipate within a week or so. If needed, air out your rug either outdoors or in a well-ventilated room.
